Friends & Brothers

I have not heard from any of your head Cheifs for some time except Doublehead, who I dont know much about ^or whether he is a beloved as a leading Man of your Nation or not, If he is one of your you would do well to let me know it.

If you at any time have any buisiness to do with me, You must send to this place, which our where all our public Buisness is Transacted, and I shall at all times be ready to hear you, and do every thing in my power to redress your Gro Compaints if any you have -

I have heard from your red brothers, re= wards, some people think they are about again geting [sic] Cross, and are thinking about the tomahawk, & scalping knife, I hope this ^it is not true, I think they must have ^got their eyes open, & seen their folly, they surely ^they have not forgot the treaty so lately made with General Wayne; They then had to give up a large country of land, and if they make war again, they will have ^be oblidged to give up much more.

If they should be so foolish as to come to your nation with war talks, dont you listen to them, Remember, that you have a good Country, think well about ^of it, and love your Woman and Children - dont list hear bad talks from no people, for the beloved men of the United States, wish your nation well and I am sure you none ^must see the great benefit ^good of Peace - your friend and brother The Cheifs [sic] of the Cherokee Nation J Sevier
