I am happy to hear by Mr. Shepard, that you, and the people of your nation is all well. I have the pleasure to inform you, that the information you give respecting the friendly disposition of your nation that it was the desire of Colonel Watts and other of the cheifs [sic], that they did not desire the poor inhabitants settled beyond the line should should be removed until Watts they returned from hunting, has given much satisfaction to those people as also to the people in General of the state, and has convinced them that your people does not wish to distress the poor people those who are settled on their lands, and are willing they should have a reasonable time allowed them to remove - I assure you sir, I have ^since rejoiced very much, that the information rec.d from you, came so much in time, as I have great

Yours of 15 February ult. I am duly honored with, and for the information therein, am much obliged- I am sorry to hear the spirit of party runs so high, and the Fracas between Lyon, & Griswald, seems to fix an indealeable [sic] stain- pitty indeed, such an event over took place within the walls of a house of Legislature-
