Carrollton, Pickens County, Alabama December 29, 1847 To the Governor of the State of Tennessee
Sir:
The undersigned, citizens of Pickens County, in the State of Alabama, respectfully represent, 1st That it would be a matter of public convenience and utility, to have a Commissioner, residing at this county seat, for the purpose of taking Depositions, and the acknowledgement ^or proofs of deeds, Powers of Attorney, Affidavits, accounts, claims and attending to similar duties, under the authority of the Government of the State of Tennessee.
2nd That Matthew Lyon, a practising attorney, of this town, is a suitable person to be appointed to said office, and we respectfully recommend him for said appointment.
