Which the[y] kept the Election Stall Open also, to Recive Votes, when the Poles comes to be counted the Votes for second Majr when Buckingham, was one a head, the sherriff Made an Attempt to Close the poles, contrary to the consent of the Judges. Who continued to take in Votes untill the sun went Down, when Mr Mcquakys pole, was one a Head. when the sherriff, Refused to close the pole, and, one of the Judges, then closed the poles [say?] Mr Vance, under said Agreement of the candidates Aforesaid, the Election was Opened By the sherriff and held under the Above Mentioned Agreement. truth that a whole community who were acquainted with their virtues, mourn the loss of the two young men who were slain. They were young men of promise and much esteemed by all who knew them. Porter has left his aged parents & a numerous train of relatives to lament his untimely death; Williamson a widowed mother & her large family of children overwhelmed with grief. We enclose you one of Major Porters advertisements containing a description of the two who have escaped. -
