His Excellency John Sevier Governor of the State of Tennessee. -

Sir.

By the Constitution of the State of Tennessee, you have the power to pardon such as are Condemned. for Crimes committed against the state. - We whose names are here unto annexed. entreat you to interpose Between the unhappy Jesse Jeffrey who is Convicted of horse stealing and the sentence of the Law. - L S

We have reason to believe that the offence for which he is now found Guilty is the only one that Can be alledged against him. And if agreeably to this petition he is now saved from the execution of the sentence of the law. upon the present Conviction his future. life and Conducts, we have good hopes, will evince, that; Clemency to him by you was not intended in Vain. - Wm Cocke J.
