Dear sir,

My nephew, Mr Isaac Watkins, and Colonel Whisly, have engaged to make observations to ascertain the best root [sic] for a Road from your state to this; and Ihave requested them to wait upon your Excellency for advice and information upon the subject

My colleague in this business, Judge Carnes, informs me that he wrote to you last year, advising you of our appointment, and its object; and you will now oblige us by letting us know if any thing has been done on your part.

Sir,

A letter from Judge Walton met me at this place, and Inclosd was an Introductory letter to your Excellency, on the subject of a road the particulars of which you will see by refering to my Uncles letter, and am sorry that it is not in my power to deliver it, and receive the Informa -tion that I had anticipated.
