Early Governors' Papers

An act authorizing the Governor to appoint Commis-sioners for the purpose of viewing ^a road from this state, to intersect the road leading from the states of Georgia and Tenessee.

Whereas it is represented to the present General assembly that a road leading from Danville in this state to meet a road from the states of Tenessee & Georgia, would tend to the utility, convenience and advantage of the citizens of this commonwealth as well as to foreigners: Therefore

Sec 1. He is an active by the General Assembly, that the Governor of this commonwealth be, and he is hereby authorized to appoint three com-missioners, for the purpose of viewing and mark-ing a way for a road to intersect the road aforesaid, and that the commissioners so ap-pointed and being first sworn before some jus-tice of the peace of this commonwealth, faithful-ly and impartially to view the nearest and best wait for the road aforesaid, shall proceed to the duties hereby enjoined, and make report thereof to the Governor of this commonwealth, and [also?] return a certificate of their being sworn, before the next session of the general assembly.
