Dear sir/

In the year 1799 I Rec.d the appointment of a Justice of the peace for the County of Montgomery= In which Capacity I have acted to the best of my skills & Judgment ever since till now, Other business Calls my attention, I therefore send forward my resignation, though I Conceive it Necessary for a Magistrate to reside in the Neighborhood that I live in, would name Mr. Jno. Stirling to fill the place.- I am sir with Sentiments of high Esteem your Obdt. Servt. &c &c
