Sir

I inclose to you a certificate of the resignation of Joel Shropshire Entry taker of this County, and recommend George H. Etter esquire a fit person for that appointment and one that would be pleasing to the people of this County. William Paine I am told as written to you for the appointment, I have no doubt but he would make a good one but he is County Treasurer and perhaps cannot hold both the appointments

Mr. Etter is a man of good character and lives in Town, and the office being kept at the Court house would make it more convenient to the people generally I am sir your obedient H. servant
