By virtue of a writ of Election to me directed assigned Thomas Johnson Brigadier General 6th Brigade of Tennessee Militia; and Election was began and held at the Court House in the Town of Reynoldsburgh, and County of Hu =mphrey, and also at the House of Captain James Craig the Election Precinct for said County- on the 29th day of March 1816- and the Succeeding day- to Elect one first Major for the 38th Regiment of Tennessee MilitiaVice Major Lewis Powers resigned-
After Purgeing and Compairing the Poles, the the votes stand thus-
for James Craig at the Court House fifteen 15 for William H Burton at the Court House ^one hundred fifty seven 157 for James Craig at the Precinct Eighty - 80 for William H Burton ditto - Twenty one - 21
[?] a Majority ^of Eighty three votes in favour of William H Burton therefore it is Considered that said Burton is duly and Constitutionally elected
I James Gordon Coroner of Humphreys County and State of Tennessee- do hereby certify that the above Statement is Just and true, and that Said Election was Conducted according to Law to the best of Knowledge, given under my hand and seal this 1st day of April 1816-
