Franklin 24^th august 1817

Dear Sir

In the charter for establishing a Bank at this place, the Legislature reserved the right for the State to take three Hun =dred Shares of such Stock, and we being a Committee appointed by the Directors of said Bank, to write you on the subject have the pleasure of informing you that the aforesaid Bank will commence busi =ness on the first day of october ensuing and wait for an answer from you whether or not the amount or any part of the aforesaid stock reserved will be taken by the Executive-
