I received a few days ago your Excellencys Letter of the 25^th of Jan^y last together with the Commission of Circuit Judge [Vice?] the Hon^ble Bennet Searcy Esq^r Dece^d I have the honor of accepting the appointment & will immedi ately proceed to the execution of the Duties of the Office- Tho sensible of the Honor Confired by the appointment I am more particularly gratifyed with the Ex pression of individual approbation con tained in your Excellencys letter
