Knoxville August the 13th 1818

Dr Sir

I inclose you a coppy [sic] of a Bill of indictment against De Townes Madon prefered in the County of Knox at the Circuit Court of February 1815 Madon was out on Bail, failed to appear, his Securities forfieted their recogni =zence &c The freinds of Marris and Prouentor are very anxious that Madon should be apprehend =ed and desire that you would by proclamation as authorised by Law offer a reward to be given for his apprehention- For my own part I am not able to give you a full Discription [sic] of the person I recollect that he is a Low man perhaps about five feet Eight or nine inches dark complection [sic] has somewhat a French appearence he had inlisted [sic] in the 39th Ret Commanded by Col Williams shortly before this murder was
