His Excellency the Govenor [sic] of the state of Tennessee Octr. th [sic] 9 nd [sic] 1830
Dear Sir
Being Requested by the Citizens of Cocke County Generally to write you again on the Subject of your making a protem appointment of Surveyor for the County of Cocke, as we have ^had none nor has not since the first of March last May - Jonathan Wood was our Surveyor but has Removed to Jefferson County the first of last march the people of this County are Requesting me to write you on the Subject and this is my third letter that I have Addressed you without any Answer, the Secratary [sic] Mr Daniel Graham wrote me you was on Buisness [sic] at the east and on your Return that you would attend to that Buisness [sic], I Expect you have not had the Information that there was any Aplication [sic] made you on that Subject Large Majority of our Citizens are anctious [sic] that Joseph H. Green have the protem appointment there is no person on earth that has any Objection his quallifications [sic] are first rate and a man that will perform the Duties promply [sic] and Correctly I hope Sir that your Honour will give him that appointment and much oblige your friend and well wisher
