Dallas Hamilton County November 23. 1830 -

Dear Sir,

I am again at this place attending Court, and on my arrival here ascertained that Capt. George who was lately appointed the protem Surveyor for Hamilton County died a short time ago - To fill which vacancy, for myself and hte population of Hamilton generally I recommend to you Major John Cummings, a young man of promise and good moral character - and who I am certain will fill the office with credit and uprightness -

Your friend, Tho. J. Campbell

Gov. Carroll-
