To his Excellency Joseph McMinn - Governor in and over the state of Tennessee
Wee [sic] the memorial of the undersigned beg leave to represent that a certain James Currier has been lately convicted of Petty Larceny in the County Court of Blount County and judgment rendered against him from which he appealed to ^the Circuit Court of Sd County where he has been again convicted and Judgment rendered against him but the undersigned understanding that a petition is a [but?] to be presented to your Excellency for a [?] representing sd Currier as an honest Man on that the brine of which he is convicted is the first or only one we think it our duty to state to your Excellency from the Conclusivee manner in which the fact has been stated that there so many [glorin?] [?] Circumstances of as not to admit of any doubt of his being on [do?] offender [anumber?] of the undersigned man and frequently quietly of such ^petty offences but iwth all Indifference to your Excellency We are of the oppinnion [sic] that he should not be pardoned

State of Tennessee Blount County
The undersigned persons respect =fully show to his Excellency the Governor of said State that during the Present Aug.t Term of the Circuit Court for said County one James Currier was on the 3rd day of said Term, convicted, of the crime of Petit Larceny which was alleged to consist in the taking and stealing an old saddle the property of one Charles Lockhart.
The undersigners are Citizens of said County and the greater part of them have been acquainted with the said James Currier for some considerable time past and never have heard the least blame attached to him before this time, that hs was always heretofore supported an honest character, and is a very industrious man with a considerable family of small children who must share the infamy of the setence provided it should be inflicted, and as ^the punishment to be inflicted is only to be corporal, and can be of no advantage to any person in the community and a considerable injury to him and his offspring for=ever. We pray that the sentence may be mitigated and that the said James may be

On the 25 Inst, Mr William McNabb An Inhabitant of six Mile came to My House with A Complaint of Injured He had sustained by some of His Neigh =bours the Cherokees the came to His House in Appearant [sic] friendship and Asked for Bread Which he gave them and on their Return Home the Went through his cornfield and but up past of His corn he [supposes?] About Across his three or four [kows?] across his field Which Was forty [?] the Also but up the greater hand of His Vines and their produce - He is very suspicious by their conduct the Intend something more Hostile to himself or family he Wishes Inquirey [sic] made to know the cause
