Having understood the Legislature at their late Session have authorized your appointing Commissioners to run the boundary line between this state and the state of Virga beg leave to present my services to you in that way; and should I be appointed, my best exertions shall be made use of to merit the confidence placed in me

To/ His Excellency Neil S. Brown Governor of Tennessee

Sir, I respectfully ask to be appointed Commissioner of Tennessee resident in Massachussetts to take depositions and the acknowledgment of deeds &c to be used or recorded in Tennessee.

For evidence of qualifications I refer to my father Hon. James T. Austin late Atty Gen. of Massachussetts and to the facts that I am a Justice of the Peace for the County of Suffolk and hold the ap pointment of Commissioner from the States of [?], New Hampshire, New York Connecticut, North Carolina, Mississippi Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, & Ohio.
