Dear sir

On viewing the Act of Assembly for appointing Entry takers. I find the clerk to be the Legal channel through whom to notify the Governor my refusal to act, for that purpose I herewith enclose you my Commission - The law haveing made no provision for recommen -dations in such cases- & as that trust was confided to me by the Legislature - I take the Liberty to recommend to his Excellencys notice Mr John Johnson Junr as a Gentleman well qualified to fill that office. and one who has signified his willingness to serve - please let this accompany yr Certificate

Yours respectfully
