Dear Sir,

M^r. H.C. Ainsworth has informed me that he had made application to your Excellency, for the appointment of Commissioner of the State of Tennessee for this State.

An acquaintance of some seven or eight years with M^r A., enables me to hear cheerful testimony to his high character, and qualifications; and I do not doubt, that those who might in the course of their affairs, have business with such a commissioner, would find him a worthy and capable officer.

I hope therefore, that you will favor him with the nomination, and remain,
