To his Excellency John Sevier

Sir having been heretofore appointed and Commissioned one of the Jus=tices of the peace for the County of Carter and finding it inconsistent with for me to Discharge the duties [Empossed?] on me from my situation as such beg leave to resign the said appointment and hope you will please to Except [sic] This as my risgnation [sic] for the same-

I was Elected last year a = Representative for Carter County & Since have removed from there, therefore think it necessary to resign my appointment As a member of the General Assembly for The State of Tennessee. there hope that you will accept this as my resignation together with my Compliments while I remain Sir your humble Servt
