Memphis Sept 30 1851 Tennessee To his Excellency William Trousdale

In conformity to the commission issued to the commissioners, by his Excellency, William Trousdale Governor of the State of Tennessee, on the 22nd day of Sept 1851- directing them to examine And to report of seven miles of the Memphis & Summerville Turnpike. Commencing at the City of Memphis [is?] finishd [sic] & completed according to the 7th Section of an act of the general Assembly of the State of Tennessee, pass^d the 31^st of December, 1829- do report that they have examined the same for that eight miles of the same is completed is conforming to the aforesaid Section with the difference that the tract is covered with plank instead of gravel as the charter of s^d Memphis & Summerville Company provides.
