the said Boyce first the siad Warrant into the hands of the Sheriff, who [suested?] the said Joseph, and de= livered him over to the said Boyce. Boyce then per= mited [sic] him to return to his Lodging upon his promising to return in the morning; Conway did return, and they were together for some time; Afterwards Conway mounted his Horse and went to his Fathers; These are the principal circumstances of the Case. It appears to us, that the object of the said Boyce was to get the Negro into possession and that he made use of hte States Writ as an Engine of [?] to effect his purpose
