We beg leave to recommend to your consideration John C Collier Esqr. as a fit & suitable person to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of James R McMeanns Esqr late Solicitor general of the 12th Solicitorial district

Mr Colliers known talents & fair standing give us the strongest assurances that should he succeed in obtaining the appointment his unremitted attention to business, & able discharge of his duty will entitle him to universal approbation... Respectfully yr Excellencys obdt Svts

To his Excellency Joseph McMinn Governor of the state of Tennessee

Whereas we the undersigned are creditably informed that ^there is a vacancy in the appointment of solicitor general of the 18th district of this state, Beg leave to recommend to your con sideration, John C Collier Esquire as a young Gentleman of the law as a worthy man possessing integrity industry and ability - And we do not hesitate to say that should he secure that app ointment, that he will discharge the duties faithfully to his ? & with credit to himself-

Dr Sir

John C. Collier Esqr is an applicant to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resig= =nation of J. R. McMeans Esqr - I beg leave to state to your Excellency that Mr Collier is in my opinion a very worthy and deserving man- , & will discharge the duties of the office well - I would also mention a circumstance which ought to have weight in confiring offices, when other things are equal; Mr Collier is a man of family, and the office will be of most material service to him.
