Gallatin, March 22nd 1821

Dear Sir, At the term before last at the Wilson Circuit Court, the presiding Judge, imposed a fine of $50 and imprisonment for one hour on John H [Bowers?] and Patrick H [Davey?] Esquires for a [contemps?] offered to the Court in breaching the peace in the presence of the Courtfrom the Judgments of the Circuit Court an Appeal was taken to the Supreme Court, and as the present term the Judgment has been affirmed by a majority of the Court, all however con =curring in postponing the time of imposing the imprisonments, untill [sic] application could be made to the Executive for a remission of it. We are well satisfied, that the imprisonment ought to be remitted, and therefore ask your excellencey to exercise your constitutional powers to that effect-- yrs respectfuly
