The undersigned persons respect =fully show to his Excellency the Governor of said State that during the Present Aug.t Term of the Circuit Court for said County one James Currier was on the 3rd day of said Term, convicted, of the crime of Petit Larceny which was alleged to consist in the taking and stealing an old saddle the property of one Charles Lockhart.
The undersigners are Citizens of said County and the greater part of them have been acquainted with the said James Currier for some considerable time past and never have heard the least blame attached to him before this time, that hs was always heretofore supported an honest character, and is a very industrious man with a considerable family of small children who must share the infamy of the setence provided it should be inflicted, and as ^the punishment to be inflicted is only to be corporal, and can be of no advantage to any person in the community and a considerable injury to him and his offspring for=ever. We pray that the sentence may be mitigated and that the said James may be
