State of Tennessee Smith County

We the underwritten Petitioners Humbly Showith [sic] to your Excelincy [sic] that theire [sic] is a vacancy for a Justice of the peice [sic] in Capt. George Belotes Malitia [sic] Company to fill the vacancy ocasioned [sic] by the Resignation of Daniel Alexander Esqr. and we futher sheweth to your Excelincy [sic] that Mr. John Haas who lives in the same part of Sd. Company wheare [sic] said Alexander Resigned was Appoi -nted at the last Session of the Legislation to fill said Vacancy, thoug [sic] we understand through a Mistake of the Clerk of the Sinnett [sic] or some other Person, that said Haas was miss Named [sic] and the name came out William Haas Instead of John Haas, and we do Know that theire [sic] is no William Haas in said Compnay or we believe ^not in in the County, as such we your Peti -tioners Humbly Prayeth that your Honor will Appoint said John Haas to fill said Vacancy and make his oficial [sic] acts Legal untill [sic] we cna have an opertunity [sic] of having the appointment Confirmed by the Next Legislator, we your Petitioners Humbly Prayeth &C
