Ordinance Department Washington Septr 1st 1827

Sir

A general apportionment of arms, under the act of 1808 for arming the Militia; has recently been made. And I have the honor to transmit herewith, a printed copy of the Regulations under which, these arms are apportioned and distributed; and which contains a state= =ment of the number apportioned, and now due to the State of Tennessee.-

These arms are now ready for delivery; and I have to request, that the wishes of the State, as it regards the pro= =portion of the different kinds of arms desired, and of the places at which you may desire them to be delivered; may be communicated to Major. S. Churchill, who commands the U. S. Arsenal at
