To His Excellency William Carroll}

Whereas there is a vacancy for a justice of the peace in Capt. Wilson Thomp= sons Company occasioned by the death of William H. Shelton, and being requested by the voters of said company to hold an election for the purpose of electing one to fill said vacancy. I accordingly adertised and held an election, and Allen Thompson was unan= =imously elected without any opposition - I therefore in behalf of said company pray that you will appoint Mr Thompson pro tem being in immediate want of one as it will be some time before one can be legally made - I deem it also necessary to mention to you that in all probability ap= =plication may be made by one John P Harri= =son for an apointment to fill said vacancy accompanied with a petition, but this man does not live in the bounds of the company and a man of bad character

Respectfully Yours Thos Ferebee [P?] for Davidson County
