Seattle Dec 1895

TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE

The undersigned residents of the Green Lake District in the 3rd Precinct of the 9th Ward, respectfully petition your Honorable Body to grant an incandescent street light at each of the following points in said district, to wit:

One light on the Green Lake car line at the south end of Woodland Ave. at what is known as Williams Station;

One light at the junction of Woodland Ave. and Humphries St. at what is known as the Woodland Park platform;

One light at the junction of Green Lake Boulevard and Market St. at what is known as the McDonald Station;

One light at the junction of Green Lake Boulevard and Kenwood Avenue at what is known as the Wells Station;

One light at the junct ion of Green Lake Boulevard and Kirkwood Avenue near the Kilbourne Station;

One light at the junction of Green Lake Boulevard and Tahoe Avenue at what is known as Tahoe Station;

One light at the junction of Green Lake Boulevard and Ravenna Avenue at what is known as Ravenna Station;

One light at the junction of Green Lake Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue, at what is known as Woodlawn Station;

One light at the junction of Woodlawn and First Avenues at the Green Lake post office;

One light at the junction of Ravenna, Meadow and First Avenues;

We respectfully represent that a light is very badly needed at every one of the points above mentioned, which need would have been called to the attention of your Honorable Body long ago except for the distance of said points from any existing light circuits;

That under a special concession and offer from the lighting companies it now seems entirely feasible to have such lights procided for at a very low cost;

That each one of said lights, if established, will serve a large num -ber of permanent residents in going to and from the street cars and while wating for cars which are run at intervales of an hour between cars

That 8 of said points are important street car stations and the other two are at points near the car line at street intersections where there is a great deal of travel;

Wherefore in view of the entire absence of any street lights in said district heretofore and of the alight cost of prociding them now under the offer made by the lighting companies, we most earnestly pray that said lights be granted wit-hout any reduction in the number of lights prayed for because we have limited our request to a minimum and have designated only points where the greatest need exists, and your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray
