To the Hon Council of the City of Seattle
Gentlemen:
On the 20th, inst, my cow escaped from the herder who had her in charge, and not withstanding the most diligent search we were unable to find her until the next afternoon, when she was taken in charge by the pound master. I got her released by paying $2.00 to the man who was taking her to the pound, as her escape was not due to any carelessness of mine I do not feel that I should be compelled to pay the fine and hereby respectfully request that you will cause the same to be returned to me.
Yours very respectfully
