To Brasso-Cattleya × Cliftonii (B.-C. Digbyano-Mossiae × C. Trianaei, Uplands var.) (votes, unanimous), from Messrs. Charlesworth, Hayward's Heath. Flower formed like B.-C. × Digbyano-Mossiae, but much larger, silver-white tinged with lavender, the fringed lip having purple markings at the base.

Award of Merit.

To Dendrobium Coelogyne striatum (votes, unanimous), from Mr. H. A. Tracy, Twickenham. Flowers yellow, striped with claret-red; lip blackish-purple. (Fig. 131.)

Cultural Commendation.

To Mr. Hunter, gr. to his Grace the Duke of Marlborough, for Vanda coerulea, with four spikes of flowers.

To Mr. H. Ballantine, gr. to Sir H. Schröder, for Cypripedium insigne Sanderianum with ten flowers.

Other Exhibits.

His Grace the Duke of Marlborough (gr. Mr. Hunter): Cattleya × 'Fabia,' Blenheim variety, and C. Trianaei blenheimiensis.

Lieut.-Col. G. L. Holford, C.I.E., C.V.O., Westonbirt (gr. Mr. H. G. Alexander): Cypripedium insigne, Holford's variety, and a new LaeolioCattleya.

[Spicerianum] num) (votes, unanimous), from G. F. Moore, Esq. (gr. Mr. Page). Dorsal sepal large, white with a green base; petals and lip greenish, the petals tipped with white.

To Cypripedium × Thompsoni (villosum aureum × 'Calypso') (votes, 10 for, 3 against), from G. F. Moore, Esq. Lower half of the dorsal sepal rose-purple, upper half white. Petals and lip yellowish tinged and veined with purple.

To Cypripedium × 'Graceæ,' var. 'W. H. Page,' (niveum × Boxallii atratum) (votes, unanimous), from G. F. Moore, Esq. Flowers white tinged with purple, the upper sepal having broad irregular lines of chocolate-purple.

Other Exhibits.

Baron Schröder (Ballantine|gr. Mr. Ballantine]]) showed a fine inflorescence of Odontoglossum × elegans, 'Eastwood Park variety,' and two forms of Cypripedium × Lathamianum.

M. C. Beranek, Paris, sent two hybrid Cypripediums.

J. Taylor, Esq., Reigate, exhibited fine spikes of Dendrobium speciosum.

H. T. Pitt, Esq. (gr. Mr. Thurgood), sent Cypripedium Pittianum.

Mr. Tracy, Twickenham, showed Cattleya Trianæi 'Bessie.'

De B. Crawshay, Esq. (gr. Mr. Stables), sent Odontoglossum × Wilckeanum 'Argus.'

M. Chas. Vuylsteke, Loochristi, Belgium, showed two fine Odontoglossum × Wilkeanum, and O. × Vuylstekei.

J. T. Bennett-Poë, Esq. (gr. Mr. Downes), again showed Ipsea speciosa, finely flowered.

H. Little, Esq. (gr. Mr. Howard), sent Lycaste costata.

Flowers of a uniform purplish rose colour. Lip blush-white with rose lines.

Awards of Merit.

To Dendrobium × 'Venus' 'Cookson's variety' (Falconeri × nobile) (votes, 18 for, 3 against) from Norman C. Cookson, Esq. Flowers white, with the outer halves of the segments dark rose. Disc of lip maroon, with orange-coloured band.

To Odontoglossum × Lucasianum heatonense (? Hallii × cristatellum) (votes, 8 for, 1 against), from Baron Schröder (gr. Mr. Ballantine).

Sepals and petals purplish-chocolate, tipped and edged with yellow. Lip cream-white, spotted with brown around the crest.

To Zygopetalum × Crawshayanum (xanthinum × stapelioides) (votes, unanimous), from De B. Crawshay, Esq. (gr. Mr. Stables). Flowers 2 1/2 inches across, yellow, with a greenish tint, and profuse spotting of purplish red.

To Cypripedium × 'The Baron' (Hitchensiæ × nitens 'Sander's variety) (votes, unanimous), from Messrs. Sander, St. Albans. Dorsal sepal white, spotted with dark rose and with a green base. Petals and lip yellowish, tinged and marked with purple.

Award of Merit.

To Disa pulchra 'Tring Park variety' (votes, unanimous), from the Right Hon. Lord Rothschild, Tring Park (gr. Mr. A. Dye). Inflorescence a foot in height and bearing ten pale-lilac pink flowers bearing a resemblance to those of a gladiolus. Native of Griqualand East, South Africa.

To Mormodes Badium (votes, unanimous), from the Right Hon. Lord Rothschild. The type plant, bearing an erect inflorescence of ruby-red flowers. The yellow variety was shown from Tring Park, January 12, 1897, and was voted an Award of Merit.

To Cypripedium × Thalia giganteum (insigne Chantinii × 'Baron Schröder) (votes, 9 for, 3 against), from Francis Wellesley, Esq., Westfield, Woking (gr. Mr. Hopkins). Dorsal sepal broader and rounder than in any previously shown; white, with a green base and many spotted lines of rose-purple colour. (Fig. 62.)

To Cattleya 'Mrs. Pitt' var. magnifica (Harrisoniana × Dowiana aurea) (votes, 12 for, 2 against), from Major G. L. Holford, Westonbirt (gr. Mr. Alexander). Sepals and petals rose-pink; lip orange, darkest in the centre.

To Odontoglossum × Hallio-crispum Theodora (Hallii × crispum roseum) (votes, unanimous), from De B. Crawshay, Esq., Rosefield, Sevenoaks (gr. Mr. Stables). Flowers equal to a good O. crispum, primrose-yellow, spotted with red-brown.

To Odontoglossum × Phœbe (cirrhosum × crispum) (votes, unanimous), from Messrs. Charlesworth. Flowers nearest to those of O. cirrhosum, but with broader and shorter segments; white, tinged with pink and evenly spotted with reddish-brown.

Cypripedium × Actaeus chardwarense (insigne × Leeanum) (votes, unanimous), from G. F. Moore, Esq., Bourton-on-the-Water (gr. Mr. Page). Flowers nearest to C. insigne; greenish with white upper half to the dorsal sepal, which has a green base and some purple blotches.
