108 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Aug 4/82 The reports of the following officers are received and ordered placed on file, viz: Street Commissioner, Harbor Master, Fire Warden, City Justice, City Attorney. Ordered that the clerk be and he is hereby instructed to advertise for bids for the furnishing of the City with the following articles for the ensuing year; viz, Lumber and Stationery; and for bids for lighting the gas lights, and doing the printing of the City. Ordered that the Committee on Health and Police be and they are hereby constituted a Board of Health. Ordered that the council stand now adjourned. Attest Approved E.S. Aug 11/82 Be it remembered that on this the 11th day of August, 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle, meets in its council chamber pursuant to the call of the mayor and in accordance with ordinance No 292. Present his honor, the mayor, H.G. Struveand councilmen Charles F. Clancy, O.F. Cosper, Fred Gash, G.L. Manning, Charles McDonald and U.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had. A communication is received from the mayor relative to a defect in ordinance No 292, and is ordered filed. The Legislative and Judiciary Committee are instructed to submit an ordinance replacing ordinance No 292. A petition is received from A.P. Spaulding et al praying for the opening of Eleventh Street and is referred to the Committe on Streets and Street Improvements. A petition is received from Stewart and Ebersold praying for a sidewalk on the West side of Front Street, and is referred to Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. Seattle July 26 1889 To the honorable mayor and Common council Gentlemen Your committee to whom was referred the communication of G.W. Hall beg to Report that they would recommend that the offer to construct a "frame engine house on Battery St near the alley between 4th and 5th and to rent the house to the City of Seattle for the sum of $50.00 per month" be accepted. 387 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE DEC 27 1889

Selection of City Attorney Ordered that the Council do now proceed to elect a City Attorney in place of R.B. Albertsons resigned. Mr. S.H. Piles is hereby nominated and unanimously elected to the office of City Attorney of the City of Seattle.

The matter of securing additional council to collect delinquent street grade assessments and the compensation to be allowed, is referred to the Judiciary Commitment;

Ordered that the two new Ahrens Stream Fire Engines be accepted by the City.

The Mayor being absent, on motion of Councilman Hall - Councilman U.R. Niesz is elected and acting mayor.

Petition of Oscar Johnson for permission to tranfer liquor license. Read and referred to License and [Review?] Committee.

Petition of T. [Howell?] for an extension of liquor license equal to time his saloon was closed after the fire of June 6th 1889. Read and rejected.

From Fire and Water Committee on communication of J.H. Rengstorf asking Council to investigate action of Building Inspector Abbott in stopping work on his building recommending that the action of the Building Inspector be sustained and that Mr Rengstorf make the chance in wall of his building to conform to instructions of the Building Inspector: Adopted:

Bids for Fire Boat There being but one bid, that of the Seattle Dry Dock and S.B. Co. it is ordered that same be not opened and considered:

Upon motion of Counciman Jones it is ordered that bids be readmotioned for to be opened February 7th 1890 for the construction of the Fire Boat, and that the Clerk be directed to cause advertisements
