3:15 After getting ticket + getting in like and going to bathroom I sarted to relax. Notice very few cars going to Lopez but Orcas (my) lanes are full after awhile. DISCOVER THAT MYSTERY MT IS [underline] BAKER. And I noticed on map there's a log road rup to North end of Shannon Lake by Mt Shuksan. Road about Orcas and see how to get to Mt Constitution, hopeful by sunset. 4:30 Finally start boarding ferry. Lots of cars to load. Beautiful grip thr the islands. Took lots of pics. Glad I brought binoculars, and book full of maps. Not lonesome at all. [pink highlight] 5:30 (Probably) pulled into Orcas = drove way around it to other side. Very Oregon, with rolling hills + patches of forest. Stopped for supplies. Up partway to Mt Constitution, and saw breathtaking view and tried to figure it all cute. Saw Lopex [underline] ferry leave. 6:30 Head down + check in+ have drink on house while reading about Movan Park in book. 7:15 Got a dinner. Pretty good, but service slow due to big church group. Very good chowder + chicken. 8:45 Ask about "higher grade" room. Tro to switch to studio tomorrow. In future, get room in 2300 or 2400. [yellow highlight][underline]Take a walk to pool. Back to room. Write up the ferry ride, to here. 9:30 Read chap 13 + 14 of Mask of Apollo. To bed.

Go eat, reading about San Juan Island. Doesn't sound as great as Orcas, to me. Decide to visit it on the way to Sydney, BC, another trip.

[blue] Decide I should put TI MBA Calculator into storage, since I've tried 2 different battery packs + it doesn't work. That's from HBS era, so it's quite out-of-date, and should go along with typewriter, when I get it back from Dean Simpson. Also put tape recorder from Stanford (1973!) and TI Business Analyst (Redondo Beach '77) into storage. Miscellaneous other cleanup of den closet.

Go get new bedroom alarm clock since old one is from Macy's Stanford '72, and is awfully yellowed. New one has battery backup, and is very similar to Radio Shack lamp timer in living room. That backup is essential if power failure occurs while sleeping.

Only advantage of old one is internal photocell for adjusting brightness of LED, but ne one's fine...Old one cost $25 in 1972. New one is $10 in 1989!
