the 8th Tenn. Reg. left & we with them.

Sunday July 27. Suffered tremendous from the cold last night as I had nothing with me, not even my coat, & the nights are cold, & we on an open platform car. Lived through however. Got chilled through. A Liut. from the Tenn. Reg. is said had fallen overboard last night from the cars, fate unknown. At sunrise we came to Dalton Geo. & a little while after we went to a tunel about half a mile in length. Just on the other side of it is a little place called Tunnel Hill, where we are stopping just now waiting for another train from Chattanooga to pass. We are now about 30 miles from the place of our destination. After we left Tunnel Hill about 12 miles distant an axident had very nearly happened to us. The second car from the Engine lost a pair
