Palatka & St. Augustine in the vicinity of [illegible] [?]. His wife has two brothers in this Comp. Wm & Alleck Middleton. The latter is also very sick in the Hospital at Chattanooga, where Mr. Stephens who died on the 25 of August about 8 oclock p.m.

Thursday August 28. Yesterday evening order came that we must have four days provision cooked & be ready to start at daybreak, but we had nothing to cook. After that it was changed to one days provision cooked which we drew about 9 oclock & cooked. This morning finds us here waiting to start but do not know when we shall be off. Staid all day in camp waiting. Our cooking utensils were send off.

Friday Aug. 29. Last evening we drew 2 days rations more of bacon but had nothing to cook it in about midnight those that wanted got a pint of flour but should we do with it. Nothing to cook it in so our comp
