The State of Alabama Mobile County
Before me the undersigned a Justice of the Peace in and for said county personally came John A. Steinbeck who on being duly sworn deposed and says an oath that he is a native of Prussia that he has resided in the United States and Confederate States of America less than four years, that he could not in that time have been naturalized, that he has not been naturalized that he is not now and never has been a citizen of the Confederate States,
