Dear Sister:

I am in receipt of your two communications from Honolulu, T.H., one dated Apr. 26th and the other Apr. 27th. I note what you say of the officials of the First Nat. Bank of Hawaii informing you that your Letter of Credit was good in Japan. The Letter of Credit you have is good anywhere in the world and you can draw money on same until the amount is exhausted. I am under the impression you have a little book which was sent from the Bank of California giving you the information where money can be drawn on Letters of Credit, issued by their bank.

You will notice by copy of letter enclosed that I have given Mr. Hodges instructions regarding the box of Hawaiian curios for the Museum and not to allow Mr. Peterson to open same until your return. There was received at this office addressed to myself a box containing a Calabash of Koa. There is nothing in your two letters regarding this, but I noticed from one of the papers you so kindly sent me that you informed the newspaper reporter that it would be placed in the Museum at the University, as it was presented to you by some of the Stanford University Students located in the Islands. To-morrow Friday, I will take the same with me to Palo Alto, and on Saturday will have it placed in the Museum under lock and key.

I note what you say in yours of the 25th of having received a letter from Mrs. R. H. Newton, in which she states that her husband will accept the position as rector of the Stanford Memorial Church.
