Sunday 27 May Dear Mom & Dad, I hope you had good weather and food and tennis in Moana Kea. [ ] it nice. Did you visit around the island at all. I love Hawaii. Just got back from a splurge meal in Starsburg France [ ] Betty's money. It was expensive- I went (or took) Brian. It was great! Find details from Betty. I've got a letter from steve and a birthday card from Brian recently that were sent by ship. Thinking it cost more to send a leter than aerogram. I'm sending a slow boat package home with [scratched out name] (little thing) for [another scratched out name]. (Don't tell)- well i decided not to mention anything that's in it. It's mostly clothes- I hope it gets there OK. [ ] a fragile item in it. The time is going fast and I am not caught up with work yet. But I'm real excited about summer and then going home. Is Joe going to contact me or is it all left in the air whether Steve and I are going to meet him in [ Beavs] or not? My complexion is goof but I'm fat (in case you wanted to know). This report in the cows is great. Last night went to see Kochs again (cow people of B-bach) . We found out how much milk they got each day and how much they sell it for. I couldn't believe it. They get ecah day 31 marks 90 pfennig [ ] about $10 a day! I stil can't believ it. They get up at 5:00 am and work till about 7:30 (Mr. and Mrs.) and earn $10 a day. They also work in the wine fields but have to grow all their own hay, grass, grain and whips for the cows. Plus they are relatively rich- Fran was the only vhild of well-off parents and own 3 or 4 houses, They sure must enjoy it to do it.Anothe rthing is that they have to work every day. Never any vacation. No wonder the cows are dying [ ] B-bach. We played football (soccer) today and [ ] again 2-1. We played Beutelsbachers. [ ] was fun but I got tired too fast.

Thursday 1 June Dear Mom and Dad, Hawaii sounds really great. I hope the weather continued to be nice. Today is a holiday and I with 4 others are studying in the library. Tomorrow Brain and I may go to Switz. It depends on how much work we got done- more if he finishes his paper for Nietzche or not. I'm taking the final in Nietzche instead of a paper. I would just as soon stay here this weekend but we'll see. That's really nice that the Edlumds are moving back- too bad it's not to replace the Twomeys or Toomeys. I wonder what Donny looks like. Finals are in 11 days. I hope to get a letter from Steve tomorrow giving me some dates. I don't know when or where he is arriving. I would sure like to know. Volleyball is really fun these days. If you see any heavy type sandals, I could sure use them. Did I really tell you about the Housing results. I'm placed in [Junipiro] like I thought I'd be. Sue Johnson says I can have her spot in lag, but I have to get out of hosusing system first. I sure will look into that possibility. I've heard that BOAC is lowering their prices to U.S from London. I will find out more. What a bummer-baby tht UCD rejected Steve. The whole law school deals sounds like a [jys]. When so much is placed on the boards. Bob Cullen and I are really good friends. We goof aorund together a lot. I'm psyched.
