A good day. Not so colde. Ben carried some logs to the saw mill. Jim & Owen cut logs. Josie washed some. Henry went to school. Edna did not go. She has a very bad colde. Franklin is some better to day. I am about asleep. I had a card from Alma Bennett telling me that Lizzie & Earl got home ok.
A good day. Lizzie and I walked to see Ola Jefferson. Lonny Bennett come after us. Mary Fowler & Annie [?] had come to see me. I was so glad that they come. Alma carried them home and got ice. They had ice cream at supper. Tom B. and [?] I and Paul B and Ed Mayhew went to see some land solde near Brook neal. Theye did not buy any land.
A good day. I am at Jims yet. Ola Jefferson spent the day here. This evening Alma and Ola went to [?] Lizzie kept the children. Tonight Lonnie carried [?] & Lizzie and I to Billie Bennetts. I was glad to go. I would like to know what they are doing at home.
A good day at Tims yet. This evening Lizzie and I went to Gordon Bennetts to see Frances Bennett & her mother. They were getting on fine. Tonight Alma & Paul and Lonnie has gone to Mr Mayhews.
I would be so glad to know how they are getting on at home.
A good day. Ben & Jim cut some wood in the woods today. The children went to school today. Josie ironed. I got dinner. This evening Josie went to see Evelyn Hutcherson. Come by Mr Bookers. Their baby is complaining. I got a letter from Alma saying that Lonnie is very sick yet. I do hope that he may get well. Oh how I miss Marvins family. I want to see them so bad. I know that I cant go as we all have to work.
A clear cool day so cold that I am afraid it will frost tonight. We all staid at home all day. Ben and Josie has bin sick all day. They come to the dining room tonight. I do hope that they will soon be better and that none of the rest will get sick. Jim came home ok. He eat dinner at Marvins. I am glad that he did. Wish I could of bin there two. He came with Faber and Paul and Alma part of the way home. I am glad that he did get to come that way. Oh when I get to thinking about all of the children. I want to see them so bad but cant go and they wont come.
A clean cool day. There was frost this morning. Not enough to [hunt?] much. We all have bein at home all day. There has not any one come to see us in about two weeks. [Reylein?] Reynolds came to see me today. I was glad that he came.
Josie has bin [busy?] about all day. She cooked meat + greens and baked a cake, milked and churned. Kept Busy about all day. I hope I can help her some tomorrow. [Nonny?] is not well by no means. Alma Bennett called over the [thove?]. I was glad that she did. She was on her way home
A good day Carrie finished Roys suit this morning she killed a chicken for Dinner I dressed it I gathered some Straw Berries This evening Marvin carried Carrie and the little girls and I to see Lizzie and her folks all of the Family and Frances & her Baby was there Alma & Gordon & Frances intends to go to Danville in the morning I an anxious to hear from home have not seen John yet want to go there tomorrow if I can.
A good day. Jim & Henry plowed some. Ben helped Mr. Hutchenson [?] wheat. Nellie save some. Josie has had a bad day. I got a card from Alma telling [??] of [L?] sickness. I hope he may get well. Mrs. Trent and I got dinner. I churned some beets today and got the onions out of the ground. Mollie [Reynols?] went to see Martha Miller today. Found her had off. [Christina?] [Reynols?] come here a hill this evening. [Edieth?] & Edna went to [R?] this morning.
A good day. Jim & Nellie went to see Ned Walker this evening. They went on a buggy. Ben went for Mrs. Car. She was at [?] Mrs. Trent & I got dinner by 10 oclock. We thought that Carrie & Effie was coming for dinner. The come this evening. Willie & Effie and two children [?] & family [?] Mollie all was here & Jim Lizzie and Alma & Gordon & [Shirly?]. [?] Fannie [?] [?] come for Edieth. [?] late this evening. I hope they got home safe & sound.
A good morning rain late this evening. The men worked in the tobacco all day. Lizzie Bennett was with us today. Alma & Louise went to [st..?] Stone to the assosiation. We are very glad to have Lizzie with us. We have not fixed any thing on account of sickness. Mr Hutcherson and Ada come by this evening and brought Josie a nice box of things to eat. We have a lot of vegetables now. We heard that Carrie was at the meeting. I would of liked to see all the folks that I know that was there.
A good day. Very warm. We all staid about home but Ben went to Cedar Forest for Mrs Car. They went to Rob Hubbards and spent the day. They got home a bout night. Lizzie & Alma and Gordon & family all come to see Josie this evening. Josie has felt some better today. I and a col[oured] girl got dinner today. I churned. Fanny Power went joy rideing this morning with [Orvel?]& Jamie Gravely. This evening they went to Gretna. Fannie is a fine girl I think. She has waited on Josie faithful all this week.
A cloudy day & some rain. Ben & Henry went to Strait Stone to meeting & Henry was baptized. Nellie and I got dinner. We had beef steak with onions in it. I went to Mollie Reynols. There was no one at home. Then I went to Renan. All the Reynols was at Clack Hubbards. While I was there Paul Bennett & Faber Jefferson & wife and children & Alma Bennet come by and stopped to patch a time and we all talked a while. I went over to see Kate Harvey a few minutes. Julia Fergerson come a few minutes.
A good day. Jim hunted some today. Ben made some steps to the house in the wood. This evening he carried John (the col man) and his family to Cedar Forest. He got in the mud as he come home and had to prize the car out. Ella Hubbard come this morning and Kate [?] and Lizzie and Lonnie and Alma Bennett. I was glad to see all of them. We heard today that Cabbel Mattox was killed near Ray. A tractor turned over on him. Josie is feeling bad tonight. Oh I am so sorry for her and can't help her in any way.
A colde day partly cloud Ben & Jim and Henry went to Gretna this morning Ben went for medicine They went to Marvins to see the sick Carrie & the girl was all complaining They carried some butter but could not sell it Brought it meanly back Hattie Gilbert washed some today. Mrs John Hutchenson come to see Josie today. Mollie Reynold(?) come to see her today Brought some grape juice(?). Josie has felt bad all today
Henry shucked a little corn this evening I have bin busy all day except when we had company. Got a calander & almanack (?) from the bank
A good day. Ben and Henry and Jim helped Mr. Booker plant tobacco. Watered and planted. I have bin very busy to day. I killed and fried two chickens for dinner. It is a hard time to get any thing but meat and bread. Lizzie and Alma Bennett come to see us this evening. I certainly was glad thay they come. Lizzie has the tooth ache. Lizzie brought Denia some flower [slips?]. I let Edna and Franklin go and carrie them home.
A very hot day and no rain yet. Ben finished cutting oat this evening. They got up the oat that he mowed. Oscar Brumfield come and got the binder. I hope he may have good time and not brake any thing. This evening I got a letter from Alma Bennett. She is in Indiana. Well I don't know how to spell. I picked a few berries this evening. Berries is very scarce. I think Floid and Christinia went and got some [Sunday?]. I feel hurt to night. Ben was mad at supper. I do the best I know how and that is all that I can do. If he can find any one that will do better I would be glad.
A good day. Cloudy most of the day. No Rain. Ben finish mowing today and they hauled and put the hay in the house. This evening Ben carried me and three children to Gretna. I bought several things. I would of liked to go to see Carrie but did not have time. Mollie Reynols come while I was gone. I am sorry not to have seen her. Will go and see her soon if nothing happens. We met[?Alma] and Lizzie comeing this way. Don't know where they went. I phoned to hear from Lottie Craddock. She think she will have company Sunday.
A good day. Jim and Ben worked on the barn flues this morning. This evening they plowed in the tobacco. I gathered some black berries for dinner. I had butter beans today for the first season I wanted to go fishing this evening but did not get to go. We had eat supper and I was about washing dishes when Gorden and Frances and Lizzie and Alma all Bennetts come come [sic]. I was glad to see them. They had bin to supper be fore they left home. Alma is going to stay a while. She brought me a dress.
A good day. The men hauled some flue wood this morning. This evening Henry and John Ward went to the mill. They got their grinding. Jim and Ben and I went to Gretna and to see Marvin and Carrie. We had a rough trip but I was glad to go. Alma Bennett is here. She has made the most of three dresses since yesterday. She got supper for me tonight. She is one handy girl. Oh how I wish I could see all of the children. Some of them that could come to see me won't come. Alma wants me to try on my new dresses.
A good day. The boys went after rock this morning. This evening Ben and Henry went with Mr. Mayhew seining. They caught several fish. Jim staid at home. Alma made another dress today. Jim found the first ripe tomato today. He gave it to Mabel. I don't know any thing to write. We had snaps for dinner and some berries. The last for this season I guess.
A good day. Jim staid at home all day. Ben went to Green Pond to a meeting. Irvin Harvy carried him. Alma and I and all the children s[t]aid here all day. Dews Lanier and his wife and baby come to see us today. His wife was Fanny Emmerson. Lee and Grace and Hilder Brumfield come this evening. I was glad to see them. I put on one of my new dresses this evening. Julia Fergerson was at home to day. She was going to Danvill today. I wish I could of seen Julia before she went. I hope she may be satisfied with her home.
A good day. I got breakfast and milked at home. Alma washed dishes. Then we caught 32 chickens and put them in a crate. Ben helped us. Then he brought the children and I to Gretna and to Marvins. The children and Ben went home. I am at Marvins now. Carrie washed this morning. I have set a round most of the day. Lee come by here. He did not stay long. I would like so much to know how they made out with the cow. I do hope they will make out well. I am feeling very well tonight. Hope all are well at home.
A cloudy morning. Rain this evening and tonight. I come home this morning. Marvin and Carrie and four of the children come with me. I am thankful that he brought me. I found all at home getting on alright. I know that Alma done a lot of work. I had a good trip. Every one was kind to me. I went some where every day on their car. Carrie sent and got ice and made cream. We did enjoy it. I am glad that I am at home. The children was glad to see me.
A good day. We all staid at home for dinner. Alma got the dinner. She is a wonder. I think she has kept house for me a week and all of the children like her. Ben and the children went to Jim Powers. Found them well. Mrs. Car was at Mr. Powers. No one come to see us today. Alma spent the evening reading. I am a fraid that Franklin is not well. Henry has gone to George Emersons tonight. Heard today that there was a good rain.
A good morning. Rain this evening. Ben worked on the truck most of the day. He went to Srait Stone for some bolts. He let all of the children go. Jim sowed some turnip seed and got up some potatoes. Alma got most of the dinner. We had snaps and butter beans and corn. The first that we have had this season. Alma made me two aprons this evening and changed Ednas dress. Alma went to Blains this evening to spend the night. I will miss her so much when she goes home and she intends going soon. Franklin has bin complaining all the evening.
A heavy rain last night. Cloudy all day. Rain again tonight. We want it to quit raining now as bad as we wanted it to rain. Jim and Ben and John Ward and Henry worked on the bridge over the branch most of the day. Jim and Henry went to Mount Airy for lumber to make the bridge. They carried a log to Starkeys mill. They got wet before they got home. Alma come from George Blains today. She said that they had commenced on the new school house. Henry tried to milk tonight. I hope he may learn. Edna can milk ok.
A rainy morning. Clear this evening. The men suckered tobacco today. Alma wanted to go home. Ben carried her home. He let me and three children went with him. We found them well at Jims. We stopped at Gretna and bought a few things. We got home in good time. Johnson stopped and looked at the phone. Said he would come in the morning and fix it up. I will miss Alma. She cooked and helped me so good. The children all like Alma. She was so good to them Ben said she fed them good while I was a way. Ben and Henry milked this morning.
A cloudy day. Rain tonight. Jim and Nellie staid here. Nellie got dinner. The children staid at home except Henry. He Went to Sunday school. Ben carried me to Earl Bennetts. Earl had a lot of nice mellons. Lizzie had a good dinner. Tim and Lizzie and Alma and Gordon and family all was at Earls for dinner. Mrs. Anderson and Denia come over there this evening. Earl brought me home tonight. I was sorry to put him to so much trouble but I can't help my self. I hope Earl got home and did not get wet.
