Sunday, August 31st[1986] Up at 7. After cereal breakfast, studied + played Beethoven’s Qt. 11, the “Serioso,” following score; a fascinating work—near-total compression.Wrote to Hugs, replacing the lost 99-book list + the letter that was with it.Walked 2.5; played Schumann Violin Concerto + Intro & Allegro for piano + orchestra.After dinner, tried talking with Gwyn about reconciliation. No go. Back in room, read Radcliffe on the late Beethoven Quartets—15,13, 14. Then played them in the dark after turning in.
