Looks like rain.
Worked till half
past five & then
played Ball. I went
out after supper
two.

Apr. 19. 1917
This morning proff
made a speech on
the food problem in
this country. He said
We cannot realize
the seriosness of the
situation. He had about
25 blanks [but made?]
sign [illegible] as to enlist
in the government
service. You leave
school on May 1st &my
get credit for all
work. Proff said
that some kids would
think "Well I will
start work on the farm
1 wk. before exams.” He said
it wouldent go down.
It seems that all of
the batty & crazy
people take after the
Kiser. I think he ought
to go in some bughouse
& given good treatment
All the nations seem
to be declareing war
against germany.

Worked till nearly 6
tonight & played
ball after the other
side beat 4 to 6
