Tuesday August 21 1845
We got underway of the Anchoring ground
and proceeded down the Bay their the ship was
to an anchor on account of the abscence of the
Shipkeeper who was so unwell that we had
to leave him and get another man in his place
the [Faurens?] came down astern of us hove
to and hailed their captain and proceeded to
Sea.

Friday 22 1845
AM Wind S by West. Light breeze
PM Wind the same the Packet Harriet.
Captain Harris of and for New London came
down within hail reported the Shipkeeper
as no better. At 3 O Clock Capt Brown came
down haveing shiped another man in his own
stead. We got under way with the intention
of getting to sea but finding the wind East
by South we came to anchor.
The Capt. took a Boats crew and went
ashore to Plumb Island wher he remained
that night

Saturday 23
AM Capt B and boats crew arrived
on board [this.] Morning about 7 o'clock
the wind being SW we proceded to
sea
PM we were all engaged in clearing
decks securing boats anchors cables and so
on until 4 0 clock when all hands were called
to quarter for the choice of watch and
boats crews the choice of offering conluded
