set Top Sails and Stood to the N E Soon raised
whales [lowered] 2 boats & gave Chase but with
out Success at 10 [o'clock] saw other whales
but too rough to [lower] the remainder of the
of the day saw nothing So Goes no Obs

Sunday the 29 th

Began with light airs from the W ward at 6
in the morning All Possible sail & steered
E N E at 10 Saw one whale [lowered] and gave
Chase but without Success Middle part calm
latter part [fresh?] winds from the N ward
Saw another wilde whale & Chased but to
no affect So remains Lat Obsd 35:35
Longitude 2:12

Monday the 30th Sept

Begins with x light x Strong winds from the
N W ward Ship under short sail lying by
heading W S W at 7 A M wore Ship to the
N E ward at 1 P M Set doubt reefed
Top Sails & Steered N N E by the wind
but saw nothing worth remarks at Sun
set furled Top Sails & wore Ship to the S W
so Goes the last day of Sept and only one
whale for my part I am quite
discouraged Lat Obsd this day was
35:36 Long 2:20 west
