Sunday August 3rd This 24 hours we have a gale of wind from the Southward and a hard rainstorm. All hands employed at eating and sleeping. So ends the day etc. Latt [LATITUDE] by Acct [ACCOUNT] 52=00" N Long [LONGITUDE] I guess 160°=20" East

Monday August 4th Comes in with the wind from the WSW and the fogg [FOG] clearing. Steer North 5 hours with a five knot breeze then luff by the wind to the N & W. Saw one sail and many humpbacks. So ends the day. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 52°=30" N Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro [CHRONOMETER] 162°=05" East

Tuesday August 5th Oh, this day we have pleasant weather. Wind from the Northward. Steer South. Saw one right whale. Chaced [CHASED] but could not get near him. Saw two sail[S] and one of them take a whale. So ends. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 52 38 North Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro. [CHRONOMETER] 162° 34" East

Wednesday Aug 6th All of this 24 hours we have fine weather, light breezes from the N & E. Steer to the South. Spoke ship Batholemew Goswald [BARTHOLOMEW GOSNOLD], Mosier, N.
