Saturday August 9th This day we have moderate gales from the Westward. Steer South. Saw a many humpbacks. Foggy by spells of an hour. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 51-10 N Long [LONGITUDE] by Acct [ACCOUNT] 163=00" East

Sunday August 10th Moderate gales from the Westward. Steer S by W. Fogg [FOG] most of the time and plenty of humpbacks. So ends the day etc. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 49°=27" North Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro [CHRONOMETER] 162°=47" East

Monday August 11th Fore part of these twenty[-]four hours moderate gales from the S & W in [AND] at 8 AM wear ship from the S & E and stand back to NNW. Latter part strong gales from SW. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 49=00 North Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro [CHRONOMETER] 162°=38" East

Tuesday Aug 12th Fore part of these 24 hours strong gales from the S & W and a thick fogg [FOG]. Steer N by W. Carried sail throughout the night. Early in the morning the the fid at the heal [HEEL] of the main top mast was found to be giving away but was soon secured by a large piece of riging [RIGGING] passing through the sheeve [SHEAVE] hole and over the cap. So ends. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 51°=20" N Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro. [CHRONOMETER] 165°=04" East

Wednesday August 12th [13TH] All of this 24 hours strong pleasant weather. Wind from the N & W. Steer Northerly. Spoke ship Splendid of New Bedford, Smith, three whales. So ends the day. -- Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 52°=40" N Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro [CHRONOMETER] 162°=41" East
