Sir

on saturday Last 3 of the
Danish Shipps taken by our privateers having
Contraband goods on board were Tryed at the
Court of Admiralty and convicted as prize and
thereupon process is forming against the rest -
tis said when they were to be unladed in ffrance
they were to haue served as Transport shipps
for England

Orders are sent to Ireland to
haue all the Militia in readiness to oppose any
design that may be made upon them as also
to hold the Veterane Souldiers in constant duty
and Recruit their Regiments

Orders are Likewise sent to
Scotland to take an account what number of
Serviceable men can be raised in their severall
Shires

And I am told that Circular Let
ters are sent to all Lords Livetenants in England
to haue the Militia in readiness upon all Occations
especially on the Western Coast and that they
may not be unprovided with powder and
Ball a proportionable quantity will be
sent from the kings stores in the Tower

yesterday was a great hearing
before the house of peers upon an Appeal
from the Court of Chancery brought by Sir Cesar
Cranmore against Charles Duke of Southamp
ton for 4000li per Annum decreed for the said
Duke which case is too Copious to be here par
ticularized but in Conclusion the Lords (Nomine Contradi-
cente)

{being the propopall of Captain George St Loe and ordered it a 2d reading = The house after
wards went upon the particulars of the Estimate of the Armey especially that of the Generall
Officers and went through great part of them and made No Alteracion in their pay except
that of Secretary of warr and was sett down at 3li per Diem they onely allowing now 20s a day
but they have not as yet entered upon the Ways or means = the person whom I Lately told you
offered to raise 50000li per Week without Laying it on Land or Generall Excise}
