yesterday the house of Commons
heard had a Lamentable Complaint made to them
about the Irregular Impressing of the Kings
subiects and some without Authority
hurryed them to e Tower where the
officers of e Armey came and bought them
for recruits for fflanders and some of them
were sufficient house sweepes others Appren
tices ffootmen &c and t there were divers
houses under the provost Marshall which
they hurryed thise poor wretches to where
they put them into Irons, Laid them on e
Boards and then either fforced them to give
Money for re Redempcion or sold them for
5s or 10s a head

and before they arose he with 12 men Chained together came before this house and the matter being
examined into 9 of the men were found to be Impressed and Barbarously used and they being
Called to the Barr their Armes were all taken off in the house and they sett at Liberty and War
rants are sent out after others detained in the same manner - 5 men of warr & 3 ffireshipps
which sayled Last week out of e Downs were seen Last saturday on the back of e Goodwins
