2mo:3th Here is this evening Geo. Clark arrived from York and no Sellers for me were at that place as he supposes which makes me conclude if I hear not from thee to endeavour to get the goods settled at Cumberland and return homeward enquiring as thou directed by the way for letters. I hope to go upward in a few days and endeavour to [provise] at [store N6] which I expect will occasion a journey to Rays town as I am told one Frazer lives there who owns one of the most convenient houses at Cumberland without the Fort which will be much more comfortable than within if it's like this none that consult their peace would chuse to be confined in it. So may at present draw to a conclusion which I do in a degree of love to my Friends and thee and thine in particular also Isaac Lane whom I often remember and would be flad of an Epistle from him.

5th In further conference with Geo. Clark I find their com.y of traders have bought Frazer's right to the house at Cumberland [abou?] and paid for it: Wherefore I have agreed with Clark for the use thereof 6 weeks for 30/s and if he does not send goods there himself at the end of that time, I am to enjoy it longer if there be occasion, [I pay] at the same ratem, he says the house is floored well, has 2 chimneys, & 2 rooms on the lower floor, one fited for a store. I am to commence tenant immediatelyths the goods can come there for about a week yet as he is to send and order the present tenant out, the messenger to leave this tomorrow, I was not willing to make words about [?] or 2 on this occasion. This after all, I look upon my [tenure] to depend upon the favour of the officer commanding there, which I have no doubt but [?] [Setter] will procure me

Dear Cousin

I have defer'd writing to thee being in hopes from day to day of Rudulph's calling to adjust thee Cousin Charles's affair on the terms I offer'd him, w:ch were that he should accept the Ten pounds in full satisfaction for all demands—he refus'd it, unless I would agree to pay the Doctor. he has since had near a fortnight to consider of it & I find grows more inflexible, his wife continuing very poorly & their Child dead, w.ch the Doctor tells them was from the disorder it contracted by [illegible] milk &c. I shall be glad to have thy directory whether to [...] with his terms or not, if we do not, I am to[...] he is determined to prosecute, & in order to is attended at the W Plumsted's last third day, being our County Sessions, but thy affair being within the City is [???gnisable] only [???] Mayor's Court to beheld the next month.

I copy'd thy letters & sent them to Stenton & now return thee the Copy: we are told there's a great number of [???] already come to Fort Allen Wyoming & some to Easton, but when They will be all in & ready for the Treaty is uncertain. I hope your Governor & Comdr. will be there as early as ours, as the Success of the business depends much on setting out right & our Governor has neither inclination nor Judgment to act, as I occasion requires & would I believe pay more regard to a hint from a Brother Gov.r
