Gentlemen:-

In the matter of application of N. Harding for a quit claim
deed to Lots 7 and 8, Block 15 Alford & Veals Addition, sold to the City,
under a judgment of the District Court, for taxes for 1895, I have to re-
port that suit was filled December 28th, 1896, while the taxes were paid
March 23rd, 1897.

This was before I became City Attorney, and I have no means of
knowing why the payment of taxes was not reported to my predecessor in
office, or why the tax was accepted without the payment of the court costs
then accrued and the dismissal of the suit.
