Escondido, Monday 1912

My dear Mrs Graundy:

It has been such a long time since we seemed to have time to quietly sit down and write a letter. I am going to try to do that now. Don't think your cards, apples, and, lastly, the sack of nuts have not been appreciated. I was away on a hard nursing case when the apples came. Didn't get many of them, but knew they were fine and I think, with much tenderness of the hands that gathered, packed and sent them to us & you served an immediate answer, but Jessie has been busy with the children & they haven't

She is all pink and white, a real pretty baby but, oh so spoiled. Jessie simply adores her & Paul is so far behind. So together, she is a little ruler, I'll tell you. Giles thinks so much of her too and it's useless to say what the grandmother thinks of these 2 precious babies. Wish you could come in for a visit with us. We want to get a little Christmas Tree & put all the love & joy into the occasions as we can only wish Frank and Raymond, his wife, , could be with us. Have stopped several times to fix the children's toy things, so if I am distracted and seem slow, don't be surprised. Oh, but my stomach talks back to me kinder, wish I hastened have feed it.

Been so very well and I had to come home from the last flare up. My stomach went back on me with the same old attending troubles. So, today is my first day up and I just do the first food for 2 days so you can know I'm not overly spry. I am sorry to have to lose so much time just now where I wanted to do things for Christmas, but I can't help it. I am sitting in the warm sunshine which beats stove warmth. Jessie is picking out nuts for some candy. Donald is so cunning. Is beginning to talk at last. He is a darling child. Has had several bad nights with croup. Let me tell you his father was very attentive to him. Little Janet sits in the buggy with her little blue bonnet on, the one that took the prize this year.

Am wondering how you came out in the law suit with Mr. Keller. Things don't always prove what it seems does it? Well, I hope you will be able to recover what's right. Wonder if you have moved yet. Where are you going? It must be fun to pack & move again. I don't relish the job. How is Mrs. Sample & children? Well, I hope. Seen little Alice. I hope she will not be sick again. Jessie mailed some little summer braces to the children today. I haven't been able to get out the past week. Nursing cases one after the other puts me out for awhile. Yet, I was anxious to keep the pot boiling. Guess I'll rest for awhile. Write & tell the price of the nuts & I'll remit. This space would have give up to J.A. last week. Will have to go sometime so will try to find you. Jessie joins me in much. Love to each and all, Dennis Young
